The international academy of sport (for disabled) IAS will integrate ballsport in their calendar for disabled. IAS is a well known american academy in teaching sport staf that is expanding their offers into sport for disabled. Check their offers for disabled on www.goalball.net. They will start on octobre 1st, 2002.

Again and again goalball.org is confronted with the question, What is so special about Torball? Perhaps from time to time you have been asked this question too? Torball.org points out in and explains why this sport is so special. These information is intended for the readers that are not yet acquainted with Torball. With in Torball means the impressive size and density in the number of teams. Particularly in Europe and South America torball is intensively played at a team level. An expression of this density are shown in the numerous national and international friendship tournaments that are held, in which between 4 and 14 teams from near and far participate. Exactly these numerous tournaments are important for the sport and form an opportunity for all age and strength classes.The building up and development of these tournaments is in the best interests of Torball. Everyone can contribute to the broadening of our sport.

In the appointment calendar you can find a large number of these tournaments; visit these, also as spectators or accompany you friends and acquaintances to tournaments, in order to show the sport in action.

13.09.02 - European Championship 2003
The organizing committee for the next european Championship Torball in Russia are working on the file to present it to the ibsa-inspectors very soon. They are sure to get the o.k. by the ibsa within the next weeks and than they will be able to inform the national organisations.  the championships will be hold during the first week in august 2003.

14.08.02 - Athens: Torball soon a paralympic sport?
Well informed circles of an international blind organization report that at present various efforts are under way, to play at the Paralympic Games where in the future women teams will play "Torball" instead of "Goalball". The purpose of this measure is to prevent the threatening exclusion of this blind-specific type of sport from the paralympic program.
So far the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has stated many times; "Only with a highly attractive kind of sport will the blind movement succeed in this very complex (expensive) discipline. Just one playing field of 8 teams requires places for about 80 athletes and officiating persons." The efforts of the IPC, which is trying to tighten the program of the games and which are trying to strongly limit the number of participants is generally well-known.

07.06.02 - Switzerland: 16 Teams at the biggest Junior Event for the Blind
At the seventh international Junior-Torball tournament at Zollikofen (CH) dated June 22^nd, 2002, there will be 16 teams participating from Europe. Also at this largest Junior Event for the Blind, there will be teams from Bellarussia, Moldavia, Slowakia, Hungary, and others taking part. There will be more Information about this ‘High Light’ published right here in the next few weeks.

23.05.02 - Mol: Exciting anniversary tournament!
The anniversary tournament of Mol (25 years of ViGe Mol) was extensively celebrated with a women and a men Torball tournament. Torball.org wishes ViGe Mol and its members the very best and for the future further success in the sport of Torball. The tournament was won by the men from Poitiers by Bozen and the women team, the host ViGe Mol won, with Dortmund Deusen following.

The small island of Malta in the Mediterranean is in this country well-known as a holiday paradise. From time to time we hear of Europa cup football games on sandy fields. On Malta, in addition, Torball is also played; The team from Malta trains regularly, games played against their own teams are on the daily agenda. Unfortunately the distance to the neighboring countries by sea is difficult to overcome, so that the exchange of team play on an international level is lagging behind... In moscow, Russia, people intend to establish an important championship for european teams in 2003. With that championship, they want to involve teams from the countries between Russia and Western Europe.
